When it comes to protecting children on the Internet and keeping them safe from predators, law enforcement officials are very diligent when it comes to publicizing the dangers and what to do to protect our kids.

For example, they want all internet sites to confirm the identities and ages of minors and then allow the young Web surfers to talk only with other children, or with adults approved by parents.

That is wonderful as far as it goes. But what happens when a youngster engages in eMail conversation with another youngster who inadvertently reveals your child's identity because a carelessly addressed message was intercepted simply because the other children revealed their entire "address book" and in the wrong hands, no one on the list is invisible to predators!

The Canadian version of "PC World" magazine recently published a lengthy article that we urge all parents, grandparents and adults who supervise children to become better informed about the risks and how to combat potential predators by using safer electronic mail methods and techniques.

This article will take you away from KBC, but after you read it, just close that browser window and you'll be right back here on the KBC site!
